Am I alone in thinking that the mainstream media has evolved into the propaganda arm of the federal government?

From Jessica Lynch to the events leading up to and surrounding 9/11 to the Fort Hood Massacre and to the president making a case on national television for justifiable assassinations and calling it "justice," am I the only one to think this? It's possible that I only notice because I don't watch much television, but I DO read a lot-especially online-so I often pick up information from non-mainstream sources. What do YOU think?
